FIRST VISIT

During your first consultation visit at PURE PARODONTISTES, a detailed clinical and radiological assessment of your teeth, your jaw and your gums will be performed. The duration of this appointment varies between 40 and 60 minutes depending on the extent of the problem and whether a specific region or the entirety of the mouth needs to be examined. Usually your dentist will give you a written reference indicating precisely the areas to be examined. This will facilitate your periodontal examination. If a problem is diagnosed and a periodontal treatment is needed, we will inform you in detail on the following points:

  • What is the diagnosed problem
  • What is the cause of the problem
  • What forms of treatment are available to you, Dr. Messier and Dr. Emde will inform you of all the different treatment options
  • When treatment should begin (is it urgent or not?)
  • The duration of the procedures, suggested sequence and frequency of the appointments
  • Fees and payment options that are available to you
  • An estimate cost will be provided and an insurance form will be given to you as needed, in order for you to obtain your insurance coverage for the suggested procedures
  • And most importantly, you will receive the answers to all of your questions

HOW TO PREPARE FOR YOUR FIRST VISIT

REFERAL FORM

In order to serve you better, please have on hand the referral form from the dentist who has referred you to our office. This will allow us to better respond to your needs and establish whether a specific or complete examination of the mouth is needed.

COLLABORATION WITH YOUR DENTIST

Your dentist is referring you to a periodontist when he or she is detecting a gum disease, a periodontal disease or any other periodontal conditions such as receding gums, for example. Following your consultation at our office, a written report will be mailed to your dentist along with a copy of all radiographs taken during your appointment. This way, we will ensure effective collaboration between your dentist and your periodontist. The report will allow your dentist to be informed of your condition and of the treatments that are recommended to you.

X-RAYS

If you have taken recent radiographs (less than one year) at your dentist's office, please bring them with you to your first visit or ask your dentist to send them to our clinic by email. If you have with you the original radiographs, we will gladly return them to your dentist as soon as possible. However, even if you have radiographs available, it is also possible that additional radiographs using a different radiological technique may be necessary to complete your exam.
